This picture(1905) was taken on the steps of the church at Temple Hill my my great grandmother Lutie Baker was in this picture and her aunt Isabelle and her father. I am not sure what type of celabration it was. Notice the men wearing their metals and the women with the bows and long ribbons on their shoulders and my grandmother Lutie holding some sort of a flag any ideas about it? -picture submitted by Vicki Watson.

Interesting picture. Wish we could read the medals. I was ” helping my uncle” dig graves for Mrs Rottmann when very young and down in that area of Pope county I saw something very simular at funerals. … some said “Official Mourner”, ” Ruling Elder” Etc. Also back at that universe of time they had ” Flower Girls”. like maybe 5-6 or more as prior to todays preparations of bodies the multitude of flowers smells as well as beauty covered any smells. I have seen some elaborate
” Sprays”, home made, using Asparagras tops as fill. This was a very important photo, this wasn`t just some body walking by with a camera. It took a while to set this type up. GREAT KEEP SAKE. Excuse my spelling ..}{ank
